Purpose: The AMA Model Aviation Hall of Fame award recognizes aeromodelers whose contributions to model aviation over the years have been outstanding and have improved the sport/hobby and increased its prestige and stature.
Induction into the AMA Model Aviation Hall of Fame occurs annually. Selection is based on the individual’s contributions to model aviation, which may include competition, design, experimentation, leadership, education, organization, writing, publishing, manufacturing, or other related activities. Emphasis is on the accumulated contributions in one or more of these categories over an extended period of time. The program is administered by the Academy of Model Aeronautics. The selection of inductees is determined by the Hall of Fame Selection Committee, which is composed of past presidents and a selector from each AMA district.
Rules and Procedures: Below are the rules and procedures that you are required to follow. Study them carefully, as any breach of these rules is cause for rejection of your application.
Eligibility: Membership in the AMA is not a requirement to be eligible for the AMA Model Aviation Hall of Fame. A person is eligible for nomination if he or she has made the kinds of contributions listed in the “Purpose” statement above. The candidate may be living or deceased.

Important Date: Applications must be postmarked by March 31.
Announcement and Presentation: Announcements of Hall of Fame inductees will be made in January or February on www.modelaircraft.org. Sponsors and inductees are notified before the general public. Presentation of the awards will be made at appropriate model aviation-related events at the approval of the recipient.
Sponsor Instructions: Please read all instructions carefully. Following are the rules and procedures. Please be sure to follow all of the rules carefully, since applications will be rejected if not completed properly.
Application: The AMA Model Aviation Hall of Fame application will need to include the following:
Tips (read carefully): The total number of files received by AMA cannot be more than seven. Your application will be returned if it exceeds that number. Any letters of support not included with the original application will not be considered as part of the original application.
The information provided should focus on how the candidate has contributed to model aviation overall, including specific examples.
The information provided must be typed for easy reading by the selectors. If the application is not readable, it will not be evaluated.
Be brief but be accurate. Remember that sometimes less is more.
Last, any application after March 31 will be rejected and returned.
Voting Process: All applications are mailed to the committee. Its selections are then forwarded to the chairman by April 27.
All rights of all information submitted to the Hall of Fame with this application, is automatically transferred to the Academy of Model Aeronautics.
